2003
Hippocampus was established in 2003 with the mission of providing high quality education. The journey started with Umesh Malhotra and Vimala R Malhotra starting the Hippocampus library in a suburb of Bangalore. With the initial focus on developing the reading habits of children, Hippocampus Reading Foundation, a not for profit trust, introduced the “GROWBY’ library program in 2007. This program quickly scaled to more than 2000+ libraries across India in a few years.
2011
In 2011, with the establishment of 10 Kindergarten centres, Hippocampus realised it’s mission to provide holistic, activity based learning for children. Guided by the principle of 'Make your Child a Self-Learner', our programs work to help the very young develop the skills and knowledge they need to take on the challenges of tomorrow. The venture found ready acceptance and the number of centres was ramped up to over 100 preschool centres by 2015.
2014
In 2014 Hippocampus started its first school, with the mission of making every child a self-learner and getting children ready for the 21st century. Hippocampus is now running a large network of schools successfully in various parts of Karnataka.7C schools were formally christened in 2018 by Hippocampus.
2020-21
In 2020-21, while the pandemic disrupted the world of education, digital and online learning became a reality. Digital Learning (Hybrid Learning) is now an integral part of our pedagogy.
